Kirkfield Lift Lock reopens

The Kirkfield Lift Lock in now partially open after being closed Sept. 2 due to a mechan- ical failure. Parks Canada work- ers have been on site working to allow for the passage of vessels to their home ports. After mul- tiple inspections, the lift lock has been approved to offer limited, single-chamber lockages to vessels returning to their home ports that cannot be trailered. Boaters and pets must disembark their vessels while the transfer is underway. Access to washroom facilities and shelter, in the case of inclement weather, is available. Vessels going up will experience a lockage time of about six hours, while downward bound vessels will experience a lockage time of roughly 30 minutes. Owners who are returning to their home port upon vessels that cannot be trailered must contact Parks Canada online at trentsevern@pc.gc.ca to arrange a time.
