KEENLEYSIDE, Margaret Anne

Anne passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre in Peterborough on October 27, 2022 at the age of 60 after a struggle with breast cancer. Dearly beloved daughter of the late Judy and Hub Keenleyside. Predeceased by her brother, Dave; her birth father, Arthur 'Buzz' Lee (Lynda); and her birth mother, Judy Dobie. She leaves behind her devoted and loving partner, Pat Butler; her beautiful stepdaughters, Melissa (Trevor) and Cassandra (Noah); her extended Keenleyside, Ivay, Dobie and Lee families; her colleagues at Trent University; and her many friends, especially Christy, Olga, Lynda, Tina, Penny, Richard, Jacqueline, Brenda and Sue. Anne was born in London, Ontario, but grew up in Toronto. With a dream since grade 10 of becoming an anthropologist, she earned her B.A. and Ph.D. at McMaster University, her M.A. at the University of Alberta, and her B.Ed. at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Toronto before being hired as a permanent faculty member in the Anthropology Department at Trent University. Trained as a biological anthropologist, Anne travelled the world conducting fieldwork in Nunavut, Bulgaria, Tunisia, and Siberia, among other places. Her happiest memories include childhood summers at the family cottage in Muskoka, her many travels abroad, and her research adventures in the field. A Celebration of Life service will be held at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on Saturday, December 10 from 2 - 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough, the Terry Fox Foundation, or Story Brook Farm Primate Sanctuary would be greatly appreciated.
