ECFC is launching reserve teams

The Electric City Football Club is launching League 1 Ontario men’s and women’s 2023 reserve teams, in partnership with FC Durham Academy. The two clubs are building on the affiliation created last year during ECFC’s inaugural 2022 season to continue cultivating high-quality opportunities for players in the East region, according to a joint news release. Among this past season’s FC Durham Academy talent were Caylan Lawrence and Rylee Traicoff, both scoring goals for ECFC’s men’s and women’s teams, respectively. Durham Academy coowners Tom Croft and Rich Hirst bring more than 70 years of combined coaching expertise at provincial and national levels. Nick Kassermelli and Hirst will assume head-coaching positions with the ECFC League 1 men’s U21 and women’s reserve teams, respectively. ECFC will host its men’s open tryouts Monday at the Wet ’n’ Wild Dome in Brampton. Further details about women’s tryouts will be announced later. Players interested in joining the FC Durham Academy League 1 reserve men’s U19 or ECFC League 1 reserve men’s U21 should contact Croft at tcroft@fcdurhamacademy.com. Players interested in the FC Durham Academy League 1 reserve women’s U19 or ECFC League 1 reserve women’s team contact Hirst at rhirst@fcdurhamacademy.com.
