Zoo hosting fun run

Riverview Park and Zoo on Water Street in Peterborough’s north end is hosting its 12th annual Fun Run on Saturday. The Fun Run will consist of two routes, a 1k run or walk, and a 5k run or walk. This year’s run aims to raise $5,000 toward $20,000 in zoo revitalizations projects aiming to improve the facilities for the animals and ensure that the park is accessible for all community members. Online registration is now closed but people can sign up for the race between 7 and 7:45 a.m. Saturday. The 1k race will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5k race begins at 9 a.m. Coffee and refreshments will be provided for runners and volunteers, thanks to Snack Attack and Tim Hortons on Water St. Salti Yoga is offering the participants a warmup at 7:45 a.m. at the zoo gazebo and LT Events is assisting with first aid support throughout race day. There are first, second and third prizes for child, teen and adult ages groups, plus place prizes for the best animal costume and best decorated stroller of the day. Parking at the zoo is limited.
