Better late than never for a couple of home track divisions set to make their 2023 Peterborough Speedway debut Saturday night.

The show features the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, SwitchTire Mini Stock and KOD Disposal Late Model, along with the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series and Outlaw Midgets. Kids Rides will be the special intermission feature.

Pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m. with grandstand admission beginning at 5 p.m. and the night’s first qualifying heat at 6 p.m.

“Ironically, two of the three home track divisions in the lineup for the next show were scheduled to be part of the originally scheduled season opener May 20,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse.

“The Bone Stock and Late Model teams will make their first starts of 2023, as will the Canadian Legend Car Series runners. That’ll give all of our regular classes some race night track time as we head into the summer portion of the season.”

Josiasse says that the new faces in each division and fresh paint schemes on the rides of some returning drivers are just a couple of the changes fans can expect to see this year.

New sponsors have been added to some of the weekly classes and APC Auto Parts Centres will take over as the title backer for the season-ending Autumn Colours Classic.

Passes for all Peterborough Speedway events are available in advance by using the buy ticket option on the speedway website at peterboroughspeedway.com. Tickets are also available by cash only at the walk-up trackside ticket booth on race day.

In addition to the kind of hometown racing that has been making headlines for nearly 60 years, the track offers fans pub grub, including fresh cut fries along with homestyle burgers, hot dogs and sausages. New this year is the Turn 4 Beer Garden.
