Wanted woman caught

A 26-year-old Campbellford woman wanted on a warrant is facing charges, including two counts of abandoning a child, after being arrested after a bat was swung at a group of people and a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. After city police issued an appeal for the public’s help in finding the woman, she was ar- rested at about 5:30 p.m. Mon- day on charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision following an incident over the weekend. At about 3 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle was driven at a group of people at a Peterborough home and then the driver got out and started swinging a bat at several women, police said. A short time lat- er a vehicle was reported as driving erratically in the George and Lake streets area, police said, and then the vehicle struck a man who was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Cen- tre for treatment. Two young children were in the vehicle at the time, police said. The 26- year-old Campbellford woman was also charged with posses- sion of a weapon for a danger- ous purpose, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and two counts of abandoning a child. She ap- peared in court Tuesday.
